I am sure you all saw (for those who live in Israel) the commercials trying to promote Israelis to invest in the Stock Market. For those who have not seen it, the setting is of a support group where people confess about their ignorance with the stock market. You can watch the video clip in here.
To be cynical I would say the investors are out of dumb money so who better not to supply it than an ignorant crowed? It is true that the site offers a glossary and a little bit of explanation about the stock market. But I did not see things I would expect to see in a website like this.
Firstly, I think most of the Israeli public does not invest in TASE because they are not aware that TASE on average since 1992, returned more than any other risk free investment. Don’t ask me how much exactly because the site does not offer such a statistic sadly.
Secondly, I think the public looks at investing in the stock market as too much of a hassle that they would not bother with in the first place. I would put more emphasis on index funds which is a great tool for those of us who do not want to bother with actively investing.
Thirdly, I would like to see more statitics and comparison between the different investment options. Lately there are a lot of commercials from investment companies but I am not sure if there is a site comparing the returns of all the performances of those companies against the index.
