Recently, I have added Google ads (not too hard to notice). I have to admit, I was not too happy about it. Since I am a part time student (writing my thesis currently), there is a certain integrity of free knowledge. That’s why I won’t charge for anything I write in here and I keep it free.
My vision for starting this blog was a clean slate in which I write and educate people about financial concepts. A good example of a typical post of mine is the Efficient Market Hypothesis. I want people to invest smart, and with little expenses.
Anyone who has a blog knows that some of the ads are the typical “Get 200% on your investment” type, and that is what actually bothers me. But of course, writing quality posts takes time and you have to be compensated in some way. That’s why we put the ads in the first place.
I am probably a bad marketer though, since I don’t write about what people want to hear usually. People want the next charting or Technical Analysis method, not you telling them that the latest research has found no evidence of any results with these methods. That’s why I’m probably doomed to write for a selected group. I’m the financial party pooper. But this selected group is probably the type of people I want to read what I write in the first place.
The Blogs out there are full of hypocrisy. Most of them, are “How To Make Money Online” on blogspot, full of advertisement and the same cheesy posts. They all look a like and say the same things. I guess that’s human nature for you.
